Pre-Meeting Workshops Focus on Hemovigilance and Hemorrhagic Shock Resuscitation

Arriving in San Diego before the meeting starts? Why not check out one of these pre-meeting workshops?

Hemovigilance: With the list of emerging infectious threats to the blood supply growing in the U.S., hemovigilance is more important than ever. Come listen to speakers from the American Red Cross and Plasma Protein Therapeutics Association, among others, give a comprehensive overview of hemovigilance in the U.S. They’ll cover FDA hemovigilance regulations, the CDC’s voluntary National Healthcare Safety Network Hemovigilance Module and the AABB Center for Patient Safety. In addition, they’ll describe current hemovigilance activities in the U.S., subpopulations who are at increased risk and findings from relevant studies.

AABB/THOR Joint Working Group Hemorrhagic Shock Resuscitation: Listen to experts from institutions like the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Mayo Clinic, the U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research and Washington University School of Medicine discuss how current and next-generation interventions are improving transfusion outcomes for patients in traumatic shock or with massive bleeding in this joint AABB/Traumatic Hemostasis & Oxygenation Research (THOR) workshop. Learn about practical considerations for implementing better care strategies in these settings — such as method for improving emergency medical response and transfusion support in mass casualty settings and cutting-edge advances in managing blood products for massively bleeding patients.

But remember, advanced registration is required for both workshops.
